Sketch Saturday

Happy Saturday Everyone!

I don't know about you but Saturday is my favorite day of the week. It is usually the one day you can be more relaxed.
I had the sketch this week and since I knew when I got back from Italy I would have so much to do and be exhausted I actually created this card before I left. I am continuing my introduction to some sketch websites. Today I used a sketch from Splitcoaststampers. This is a great site to use for all kinds of inspiration. Here is the sketch and my card.

Stamps: In Full Bloom Paper: Ballet Blue, Green Galore, Summer Sun, White Ink: Basic Black, Green Galore, Only Orange, Summer Sun, Whisper White Craft Accessories: Aqua Painter, ribbon, oval cutter, Line detail white embossing powder (Embossing Arts), sponge, dimensionals
Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Cosmo anyone?

Jen, Susan, Kindra and I are all going to the movies tonight. Yep, to see Sex and the City. I am sure there will be a bunch of women out for a girls night tonight. My girlfriend Jen already got our tickets, and from what I understand it will be a full house, to bad we can't bring our cosmo's. Well anyway, if any of you are going tonight have a good time with your girlfriends, or your man, but I really don't think we will see to many of them at this one. So Cheers and enjoy!!!

Color Challenge Monday

Happy Memorial Day to you all!

Well I am back in the USA and running as usual to get caught up on all that happened while I was gone.

Did you ever have one of those "Oh My Gosh" moment? Well that happened while making this card. Candice and I had picked out our colors and I chose Gable Green and Pixie Pink (pink and green are hot colors this spring). I had also chosen the set Polka Dots & Paisley (hadn't used it in a while and thought it was time to give it a chance) to use on the card. I sat and stared for a while and played with some layouts in my mind but nothing was hitting me as the one to use. I had stamped the saying and was cutting the layers when I saw this large triangle sitting there and all of a sudden it hit me. Use the triangle in the upper corner on a white card and everything just fell into place. I started stamping, layering, and glittering and here is what I came up with!

Stamps: Polka Dots & Paisley Paper: Gable Green, Pixie Pink, White Ink: Gable Green, Pixie Pink Accessories: Green stickles, Gable Green & Pixie Pink markers, Spica clear glitter pen, Sakura Stardust , Gelly Roll pen, ribbon (Michael's during the spring sale), dimensionals, sponge

Hope you liked it. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

What a cute little card for a picnic invitation. I just folded a Carousel Note and then used the Coluzzle Cutting System for the White CS and the Rose Red CS. I used the word window punch for the seeds or buttons would be really cute.
Thanks for stopping by hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Party for Teacher

My daughters teacher (love her) just got her masters and graduated on Wednesday, so one of the other moms and I decided to have a surprise party for her today at 2:30. We both told our children Cameron and Sloane to go in and tell all the other children in their class. We told them to make sure not tell the teacher about our little surprise, and so far so good.
I made a 13x9 cake cut it and half and decorated them like pencils. I saw this done in Family Fun magazine and thought it would be cute, I LOVE this magazine they have some of the cutest things to do with children. Well we just have a few more hours to go, I hope it will be a surprise.

Wednesday's Design by Robbie

I saw Pam's card and knew I wanted to use it as a jumping off place. I love the Priceless set and use it so much (I bought it basically for the swirls and never knew I would use the whole set as much as I do). Here is what I did with her design.
Stamps: Priceless, Warm Words Paper: Certainly Celery, Tempting Turquoise, White, Flowers for You DS Ink: Certainly Celery, Lovely Lilac, Regal Rose, Tempting Turquoise Accessories: Certainly Celery - Lovely Lilac - Regal Rose - Tempting Turquoise brads, ticket corner punch, dimensionals, sponge.
By the time you read this we will be spending the final day on our trip in Rome. We have toured Italy and are probably exhausted and broke. We all fly home tomorrow to go our separate ways. Time passes very quickly. Suddenly your little ones are grown up and making a life on their own. Take the opportunity to spend time with them as much as possible. I will treasure these past 14 days for the rest of my life.
Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Scrappin' Color Challenge

I had my Simply Scrappin' Card Making class this weekend and here are 8 of the fun cards that we made with the Tie the Knot Kit. As you can tell I am really liking these Kits for Card Making. I hope everyone is doing well and I will talk to you soon.

Color Challenge Monday

As you read this today I have just spent the day sightseeing in Rome. We are now on the down side of our vacation. I can't wait to get back and share my trip with everyone.
Candice and I chose our colors based on kits/collections in the catalog. I really loved the Rose Cottage Simply Scrappin' kit. I ordered it quite a while ago and hadn't the courage to cut into it. I saw several blogs where they use kits to create 36 cards. I decided today would be the day I cut into my kit. I have created 4 cards so far which I will share with you today. I will continue to create the cards and post them periodically so you can see what I came up with. Here are my first 4.

Stamps: Small Script (retired) Paper: Chocolate Chip, River Rock, Rose Red, Soft Sky (all were in the kit), PP from kit Ink: Chocolate Chip Accessories: Love & Happiness Rub Ons (Sale-e-bration), ribbon, Hemp Twine, various pieces of die cuts (from the kit), Chocolate Chip and Soft Sky brads.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Wednesday's Design by Robbie

I have always been attracted to cards using black. There is something about them that just grabs me. I ran across a black and white card that was very similar to this (sorry but I can't remember where I saw it) and decided to use the layout with a few changes to make my card. You can't tell from the picture but the bottom paper has a line of glitter running next to the dots. This was a really easy card!
Paper: Basic Black, Glitter Stack (DCWV) Accessories: Prima flower (JoAnn's - clearance), Pink Passion brad, ribbon (Michael's), Signo gel pen, Love & Happiness rub-on, dimensionals.
Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Color Challenge Monday

Yeah, it's Color Challenge Monday! Candice and I really love picking colors. I think we need to challenge outselves and work outside the box. What do you think of us picking colors for the other person. It could present some interesting cards.
For today's colors I was to use Summer Sun and pick some other colors. When I started planning this I saw a card that had used a wheel to create a design down the left hand side of the card. I took it a step further and decided to use the wheel on a piece of cardstock to create the look of a ribbon down the side. From there I determine where to put the image and then by looking at the sketch I knew it needed a ribbon across the bottom. I had this ribbon that I wanted to layer on top of a satin or grosgrain but even with all the ribbon I have I did not have a color to match Summer Sun (those of you who have seen my craft room with all my ribbon boxes will find that hard to believe). So I decided to use a thin strip of cardstock and attach my ribbon to that. Here is what I came up with.
Stamps: Friendship Blooms, One of a kind Paper: Lavendar Lace, Rose Red, Summer Sun, Wild Wasabi, white Ink: Basic Black, Summer Sun, Wild Wasabi Accessories: Forever Flowers wheel, wheel handle, ribbon (actually knitting yarn, they have some cool yarn that makes great fiber ribbon for cards - I got it at Michael's), sticky tape, dimensionals
So Candice, are you up for the challenge of picking each other's colors? Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Shower Gift

One of my friends asked me to help her with a bridal shower gift, she came over last night and we worked on the project. We used the Tie the Knot Simply Scrappin' Kit to make 26 different Thank You Notes (the pictures below only shows 10 of the cards). We covered this great tin that she got at the dollar store, all the cards and the envelopes fit perfectly in the tin. I hope her friend really likes her gift.

I hope you enjoy what we came up with. Thanks for stopping by.

Wednesday's Design by Robbie

I read quite a few blogs each day. I use them for inspiration and to learn new "tricks of the trade" (that is where I found out about the glitter gel pens you all wanted). Nicole at capturethemoment had a release of some of her new stamps and paper. She created this absolutely beautiful card. I just love the yellow color also. On Julie's blog she used Stampin' Up supplies to recreate Nicole's card. I wanted to see how easy/hard it would be so I gave it a try.
I really like Nicole's card, it just screamed elegant. I wanted my card to mimic that elegant look. I pulled out my cardstock samples and decided to use Pale Plum to make my card. Other than a few things I learned (you need to stagger your background image, how to improvise if you don't have satin ribbon to match your cardstock, finding a focal image if you don't have the one on the original card) the card was fun to make. Let me know if I achieved the elegant look of Nicole's card.
Stamp: Baroque Motifs Paper: Pale Plum, white Ink: Versmark Accessories: Prima flowers (Target $1 spot), Pale Plum brads, white satin ribbon, Crafter's Took Kit, clear embossing powder, heat gun
Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Garden Gate

When I saw this technique called Thumping on Beate's Blog I really wanted to try it, and then last week I saw she did the Gate Fold so I put the two of them together and came up with this card. "He He" do you like what I titled it, Garden Gate?
Stamp Set: Essence of Love Card Stock: Certainly Celery, Not Quite Navy, White, and Certainly Celery Prints DSP Ink: Wild Wasabi and Not Quite Navy Accessories: Ticket Punch, Circle Punch, Designer Label Punch, Large Oval Punch, Brads, Organdy Ribbon.
Wow I really used a lot of punches on this one, hope you all enjoy your Tuesday.

Color Challenge Monday

Candice and I decided to use colors from some of the collections in the book. I was immediately drawn to the colors from the Build a Flower kit. I also had not used my ticket corner punch recently and thought it would be fun to punch the corners also. I had so much fun working with these colors. I challenge you to look through the book and find a group of colors that you are attracted to and create a card.
Stamps: Simply Said Paper: Basic Gray, Bashful Blue, Lovely Lilac, Rose Red, Wild Wasabi Ink: Basic Black, Basic Gray, Bashful Blue, Lovely Lilac, Rose Red, Wild Wasabi Accessories: Gray velvet ribbon, Gray Dew Drops, ticket corner punch, slit punch, word window punch, aquapainter, Zots mini glue dots, sticky tape, dimensionals.

Sketch Saturday

I am busy preparing for my trip to Italy. I have been making cards and posting them early so you have something to look at while I'm gone (really I just don't want you to forget me :) ). I thought it might be fun to share with you some card sites/blogs that have sketch challenges each week so that you could check them out and play along. Having the sketch really makes it so easy to put a card together quickly. If you use a sketch I would love to see the card you made. Consider also posting your cards on a site like Splitcoaststampers. It is a great site for inspiration.
I haven't been to this website for a while and I recently saw several cards on other blogs using their sketches so I decided to check it out again. I saw a couple of sketches I like but went with this one as there was something about the simplicity that appealed to me. I also immediately thought of the Embrace Life set and the Ginger Blossom DS paper which I hadn't used in a while. Here is the sketch and what I created.

Stamps: Embrace Life, Noteworthy (retired) Paper: Cameo Coral, River Rock, Ruby Red, Very Vanilla, Ginger Blossom DS Ink: Basic Black, Ruby Red Accessories: Ruby Red brads, photo corner punch, dimensionals, sponge.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Stinkin Cute

I hope everyone is doing well. My Tuesday was horrible, I got a bug and let me tell you it got the best of me. Thank goodness it was only a 24 hour one, but the next day I had zero energy.
I have to send out a thank you to Tonya for having her show on Sunday. She was also able to take advantage of the extra Hostess Dollars, way to go Tonya. Well anyway here is one of the projects that we did at her show on Sunday, as you can tell I have really been using that Wild Wasabi paper (promotion for April). Thanks for taking a peek and I will see some of you on Friday.
Stamp Set: Pun Fun Card Stock: Wild Wasabi, Real Red, Bashful Blue, and DSP Summer Picnic Accessories: Brads, Metal Edge Tag, Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Pure Color Pencils, and Crafters' Tool Kit.
