Saffron Olive Rose Bird

Good Monday Morning!

Well we are getting ready for another storm.  Not sure if we will get rain, ice, or snow.  Here lately the weatherman hasn't been able to get a final prediction until the last minute due to the weird changes in the upper levels.  Guess we will see.

Our challenge this week at Late Night Stampers is to create a project with a bird on it.  I know almost everyone will use the owl punch as they are hot right now.  I don't own many birds as they are not my thing.  I did find a bird image in the hostess set so that was what I went with.  I combined it with the Just Believe set.

Now I need my colors.  I found a color challenge at The Stamp-a-holics blog.

Here is my final creation.  Tell me what you think.

Hope you liked my creation today.  Make sure you come back tomorrow as I have an announcement that I am super excited about.  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Be Gentle

Good Morning Ladies!

Well I did something I have never tried before on my card.  Our challenge this week at Late Night Stampers is to create a project that depicts where you are from.  Maryland is known for their blue crabs so on Monday I created a water scene with a blue crab.  While I was creating this card my brain was churning trying to think of something else I could use for my post today.  All I could think of was Amish and corn.  Well I did not have any stamps that were buggies or ones that would be corn so I thought I would play around and see what I could come up with.

The buggy was pretty easy.  It is just a rectangle with a rectangle cut out for the door.  Then I needed to do the wheels.  I had no idea how I was going to do the spokes so I pulled out my catalog to see if there was a stamp set I could use.  I saw a flower in the Simply Said set that reminded me of spokes.  I stamped it in black and then used 2 circles to create a ring which I attached to the flower to create a wheel.  So now I have my buggy.

Now for the corn.  I started with a skinny strip of green and then cut a really thin strip of a lighter green and wrapped it around the darker green.  That gave me my corn stalk.  Now I needed leaves.  I used a punch and punched out several leaves in 2 shades of green.  I folded them down the middle and sponged on green ink.  I then folded the leaf on a diagonal and I had my leaves.  I added some embroidery floss at the top to be the silk and sponged the end with chocolate chip.  Now I have my corn.

So do you want to see my final creation.  I have to admit it was definitely a challenge.  Let me know what you think.  Oops, just realized I put my buggy on wrong.  I will have to see if I can detach it and fix it.

So what do you think, other than the body being on wrong that is?  Hope you liked my last project for our challenge this week.  Thanks for looking and have a Sensational Sunday!

Scrapbook Saturday - Bijou Meets her Sister

Happy Saturday Ladies!

Quick post as I need to get to bed.  Have a couple of ladies coming to do my calendar tomorrow.

I am still on a roll with my scrapbook resolution.  I will be switching days and doing it on Sunday from now on.  I have some commitments that I need to post on Saturday rather than Sunday so I will just switch the days.

I have the next set of pages for Bijou's scrapbook.  This was the first time she met her older sister when she came from Hawaii for a visit.  Here is the next double page spread in her book.

Blushing Bride Sketch Frenzy Friday

We made it to Friday!  Do you have some plans for the weekend?   I will be doing a calendar class tomorrow.  I also have to work on my college class since it begins on Thursday.  And I have to do the cards for my monthly workshop that is Wednesday and Saturday.  Wow, I guess I won't be sleeping this weekend!

My card today is for the sketch challenge at Sketch Frenzy Friday.

Guess what?  I designed the sketch for this week.  I would be so excited if you would play along with us.

I also wanted to do the Valentine challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_sejG-Hm5quc/TTyHKSLoRBI/AAAAAAAAEGk/ISZ8GSIaqD0/s1600/I%2Bheart%2Bhearts%2B%2Bblog%2Bimage-001.jpg

so I used the mini element at the bottom to punch a heart.  The rest is another simple card.  Here is my creation.

Hope you liked my card.  Now it is time to hop on your way to Ros Davidson's blog to see what she did with the sketch.  I am sure she did a great job.  Thanks for looking and have a Fabulous Friday!

Another taste of Spring

So how did you do with the latest snowstorm?  I never know what to expect as the weatherman changes his mind every time there is a news program on.  I have gotten to the point that I just wait and see what happens.

I have a lot going on right now so I have taken the clean and simple route for my cards.  It has been fun making simple card lately.  I am sure I will be back to more elaborate frilly cards soon.

My card today is for the sketch challenge at Stamping 411

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_mZMAZVbNj70/TTogqy1oLAI/AAAAAAAAFaY/n19B7ZJK8CE/s1600/SSC187.jpg

I hadn't used the Because I Care set in a while so I pulled it out for this one.  I used the marker thumping method to color the hydrangea.  Here is my creation.

Hope you enjoyed my card today.  Hopefully we will all be seeing hydrangeas soon!  Thanks for looking and have a Great Day!

I modified the sketch a little as I used the Top Note die and it is not as wide as the card base .  It is a clean and simple card.  Here is my creation.

A Great Color Combination

Wow is it cold!  I know Bijou wants to play when she goes out but we usually just take care of business and get back inside.  It is too cold to be out fooling around.

My card today was made for the sketch challenge at Don't Waste Your Thursday.  I really liked this sketch and wanted to create something with it.

 http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Zy79JUejyis/TTd2H0c53EI/AAAAAAAADhc/-CV5ogn-ydw/s1600/sketch69Angelique.jpg

I wanted to use some springy colors so I pulled out my color coach.  I didn't see anything that appealed to me so I went to the My Create Ink, Color Lab.  I put in the color Peach Parfait and So Saffron.  They gave me lots of matches but I liked the look of Perfect Plum with it.  I also added Chocolate Chip.  I love these colors together and I'm thinking of doing my cards for my workshop next month with these colors.  Here is my creation.

Hope you enjoyed my card today.  Thanks for looking, stay warm, and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Where are you from Monday?

Happy Monday Everyone!

I hope you had a great weekend.  Jess and I met my girlfriend and her daughter for lunch and a day of shopping.  We had a great time and ate some delicious food.

My card today is for the challenge at Late Night Stampers.  Our challenge this week is to create a card that is a representation of where you are from.  This was easy for me as we are know for our Maryland Blue Crabs.  I wish I was creative with punches as I would have punched one.  Since I am not, I had to pull out a retired set for the crab.  I did find a picture of what the crab looks like and used colors and a blender pen to color him to look as close to our crabs as possible.  Here is what I came up with.

Hope you enjoyed my card.  I can't wait to show you my other card later in the week.  I had some creative fun with that one.  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Late Night Stampers Sympathy

Good Morning Ladies!

I have another example for the Late Night Stampers sympathy challenge this week.  I also used another new technique from Technique Junkies.  This one is called Cling Pearls.

For my design I used the sketch challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments

Scrapbook Saturday - Bijou

Good Morning Ladies!

Well the deep freeze is back again.  I was so hoping we would not have any more bitterly cold weather but that isn't the case.  I don't know about you but when it is this cold I think we should have snow.  Our next chance for a tease is Tuesday or Wednesday.  We'll see!

I worked yesterday on Bijou's scrapbook.  My completed double spread fits 2 challenges.  The Stamp-a-holics have a challenge this week to make a scrapbook page with a love theme.  Bijou's page is all about her love of taking naps.  I just love the pictures I had taken of her in her various poses while asleep.  Since I used punches of butterflies it also fits the punches challenges at Creative Sketches.  Here is my 2 page spread for Bijou's book.

Don't you just love the upper left corner of the right hand side?  That is relaxed!  Thanks for looking and have a Super Saturday!

Old Blushing Plum For Everything

The end of the week is finally here!

It is time for our Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge.  We have a great sketch by Melissa Hedine-Tootle.

I wanted to do something a little different with the circle element down the side so I went looking for a set that would allow me to do that.  I saw the set For Everything and knew it would work.

I stamped the fan of flowers and colored them in.  I then punched them out and mounted them on another circle.  I used this for the circle element down the side of my card.  Next I stamped the flower along the bottom.  When it was finished it seemed to be too bare so I added a flower stamped multiple times in the upper left corner.  I then added 3 brads in the center of 3 of the flowers.  Here is my creation.

I really like how my card turned out.  Hope you did too.  Now it is time to hop on over to Ros Davidson's blog.  I am sure she will have a wonderful creation for you also.  Thanks for looking and have a Fabulous Friday.

Ice Crystals Background

Good Morning Ladies!

My card today so the card we will make tonight in our technique class.  It is the ice crystals background.  It is a technique I learned at Technique Junkies.  It is fun and easy but I learned a few things (check out the mistake down the left hand side of the paper).  I hope you can see the crystal texture on the background.  Here is my creation.

Hope you enjoyed my card.  Thanks for looking and have a Great Day!

Some Sunshine For You

Happy Wednesday to you!

Can you believe this weather?  One day we have snow/ice and the next it is sunny and warm.  Hopefully it will make up its mind soon.

When I began my card I wanted to do a bright and cheery card to bring some sunshine and warmth to everyone who looks at it.  I knew I would be using Daffodil Delight.

I found a great sketch challenge at Our Creative Corner.  That I thought would be fun to do.  I hadn't used Fifth Avenue Floral in a while so I thought the daisy would be fun - besides daisies are a fun Spring flower.  When I looked at the sketch below I saw the daisies as the oval element.

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_DGzp9MJmogg/TSCfLsRFRrI/AAAAAAAAALo/b7TxH7VEjJM/s1600/WSJ08%2B2.jpg

I began by stamping the daisy with Basic Black.  I then colored the centers in with the Daffodil Delight marker.  I then decided to try adding some color with the blender pen and ink in the lid.  I liked the look of the Daffodil one so I used colors from the Color Coach to do the other 2.

When I was finished coloring all 3 I pulled out my glitter pen and added some sparkle as I love sparkle on a card.  Next I used the leaf stamp from Autumn Splendor to stamp the background.  Then I ripped the edge.  When I laid out the pieces on the the card base, it needed something so I pulled out my skinny black taffeta and added 2 rows with a knot.  Here is my final creation.

Hope you enjoyed my little bit of sunshine.  Thanks for looking and have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Aged Tiles Stampin' Up Style

Happy Tuesday Ladies!

I am so glad you came back to see me today.  I think you will enjoy my card today.  I used a technique from Technique Junkies.  It is called Aged Tiles.  Since the description was in an issue when I was not a member, I looked at the samples that were posted in our group and was able to come close to the idea.

I used the color challenge at Diva Coffee Break Designs

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_H7oCeoDGDhA/TSe3XXS-b-I/AAAAAAAAAJY/iCgGW6T_zNw/s1600/dcbd210c.jpg

I really liked these colors and thought they would be perfect for this technique.  I used the Sahara Sand to do the aging.  Here is my creation.

Fast and Fabulous 411

Good Morning Ladies!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and that you are enjoying your day off today.  Are you going to spend some time stamping today?  I will be making a few things for you to look at later this week so make sure you come back and check it out.

My card today is for our challenge at Late Night Stampers.  This week our challenge is to make a sympathy card.  I don't often need them but having a few on hand is good.  I used the sketch challenge at Stamping 411

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Axt-zucF_7Q/TS7raA4Sv_I/AAAAAAAAA34/OXioAt2usvE/s1600/SSC186.jpg

Last week I saw several cards made with the colors Early Espresso and Baja Breeze.  I thought they would make a beautiful serene sympathy card so I chose those to use.  Since I had not played with my
Fast & Fabulous set I decided to use the gladiola type flower.  I really like how this one turned out.  Here is my creation.

I have a new technique for tomorrow so make sure you check back to see what I did.  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Scrapbook Saturday Paper bag style

Good Morning Ladies!

Well I am still safe with my New Year's Resolution.  My post today is not another page in Bijou's book - I will go back to that next week.  I needed to do another post for the Late Night Stampers  Brrrrr - Baby It's Cold Outside.  Last year when we had our back to back snow storms I took some pictures.  My intention was to scrapbook them.  I saw a paper bag scrapbook and the wheels started turning.  So my post today is the beginnings of my paper bag scrapbook.  Here is what I have created so far.

The first page

So do you like my first page?  I will make sure to post my other pages and the finished product.  I have the first session of my All Occasion stamp-a-stack today.  Not sure I will get time to create for tomorrow but I will do my best.  Thanks for looking and have a Super Saturday!

Concord Boho Blossoms

It's Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!  Do you know what that means?  You guessed it, it is Sketch Frenzy Friday.  Time to play with a new sketch.

Our sketch today was created by Melinda Couden.  Here is what she gave us to work with.

When I saw this I was originally going to do the long card but I hardly ever need or send long cards so I modified the size - have to put my spin on it! :)

I have been trying some different color combinations lately.  Needed to spice up my card!  I started with Concord Crush and using the color combo site I added Pear Pizzazz.  I wanted another color so I did a new search with those colors and Crumb Cake popped up and I liked it so now I have my colors.

I was going to do some punching of ds paper for the 4 scallop elements.  Since I was going to use a regular sized card, I had to change my punch.  I decided to use the Boho Blossoms punch.  I punched the flower and the leaf from the In Color 6 x 6 pad that is a hostess gift.  This is definitely different from my usual style.  Here is my creation.

So are you ready to continue on the hop.  Click on over to Ros Davidson's blog to see what she came up with.  Thanks for looking and have a Fabulous Friday!

More Olive Raspberry Believe

It's Thursday!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought it would be fun to play with my Just Believe set since I haven't used it in a while.  I colored it with markers and then stamped it on my cardstock.  Then I just had to add my layers and embellishments.  Here is my creation.

I really like this card.  There is something about the colors that just grabs me.  Hope you like it too!  Thanks for looking and have a Great Day!
