Hand Stamped Sentiments - Paper Piecing

I cannot believe this is the last day of May.  Time is flying by.

It is Hand Stamped Tuesday which means we have a new challenge.  Our challenge is to use paper piecing.  I have never tried this technique so this was a new one for me.

I saw on Bev Watt's Stampin Ovation blog some great cards she had done using this technique and the  Awash with Flowers set.  I had wanted to case her idea so I went with that set.

I used the sketch challenge from Stamping 411

I played a lot with this sketch but I like how mine turned out.  Here is my creation.

Late Night Stampers Teacher Appreciation

Happy Memorial Day

Good Morning Stampers!

Do you have plans for a cookout today?  Hopefully the weather will be good where you are.

We have a great challenge today over at Late Night Stampers.  It is for all our teachers.  You are to create a card, gift, etc. that could be used as a Thank You for a teacher at the end of the year.  Being a retired teacher this is something I can relate to.

Since I do not have any children left in school I went for a card.  You could easily put a gift card/certificate inside.  Here is my creation in the classic red, white, and black that is associated with teachers.

Do you see the scalloped squares behind the apples?  I used the new postage punch to create those.  Hope you enjoyed my creation today.  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Scrapbook double layout

Second Post, scroll down for the first!

Good Evening!

I said I would try and post later today.  I did not expect it to be this late.  I got a later start than I had expected as I was busy cleaning up the furniture I bought for my sunroom.  I now have an end table and a lamp.  I got a rug and a plant stand but I need to get padding for the rug and the plant stand needs to be reglued as the leg came unglued.  I am hoping to get the padding on Tuesday at Lowe's if they have it.

I made another double page spread for Bijou's scrapbook.  Here are the 2 pages.

Hope you have a great evening!

Flip Mini Album Complete

Good Morning Stampers!

Since it is Scrapbook Sunday I thought I would finish my mini album and share the completed album.  I spent yesterday evening finishing it up.  I really like how it turned out but not sure what I will do with it.  Here is the finished pages of the album.

cover - the mat in the center is for the title of the album

first 2 pages - the scalloped mat is for the picture.  In the pocket on each page is the journaling tag.

pages 3 and 4 - since I placed the brads in the wrong spot, I punched circles out of the ds paper and used them to cover the brads.  The brads hold ribbon that is used to thread the black ribbon through to hold it together.

pages 5 and 6

pages 7 and 8

last 2 pages

I found the UStream by Laura Denison easy to follow.  I am going to try and work on another scrapbook page to share later today.  If I get it done I will share it.

Thanks for looking and have a Sensational Sunday!

Late Night Stampers - Scrapbook Challenge Take 2

Good Morning Ladies!

Sorry this is a late post today.  I thought I had typed it up and scheduled it to post this morning but it must have been in my dreams.

On Monday I shared the beginning of a mini album and said I would finish it and share it with you.  I have been trying all week to get it done and finally took time yesterday to at least finish the pages and put the album together.  I still need to add the photo mats to the pockets, cut tags for journaling and finish the cover.  I wanted you to see this as it is now and will share photos as I finish the pages.

I saw this album on Laura Denison's National Scrapbooking Day UStream.  I have a ton of patterned paper so I decided to make one.  The patterned paper on each page is a pocket that you will add a tag to journal on.  I have to add a photo mat to each pocket also.  I used the wrong measurement for my brad placement as they are supposed to be hidden under the pockets.  I will punch more circles and add some random circles to hide the brads.  Here is my creation so far.

Hope you liked my share today.  I am off to do some shopping and then I will hit the craft room to create some more things as well as finish this mini album.

Thanks for looking and have a Super Saturday!

Sketch Frenzy Friday Hello

It's Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so glad as I need a few days to veg and stamp.  I am hoping to finish up my mini for our challenge this week.

It is Sketch Frenzy Friday so that means we have a new sketch.  Our sketch this week was created by Tina Taves.

When I saw this I thought it would be a good one to do for my workshop next week as I needed 1 more card.  For those of my ladies who are reading this we will be doing on of these next week in my workshop.

I had a strong urge to use Rich Razzleberry.  Not sure why but really wanted to use it.  When I saw the sketch I thought it would be fun to do a Rich Razzleberry patterned paper background along with Old Olive patterned paper.  I really like how it turned out.  Then I had to find a stamp to use.  I realized I had not used the Hello Blossoms stamp so that is the one I pulled to use.  I did switch the circle element to an oval for the stamp.  Here is what I created.

Hope you liked my creation today.  Now it is time to head on over to Sharon Field's blog to see what she did with the sketch.  Thanks for looking and have a Fabulous Friday!

Always Perfect Elegant Cake

Hello Stampers!

I don't know about you but I am glad the end of the week is almost here.  It has been busy and I just want to relax.

Do you like my title?  Didn't have any idea what to use so I used 1 word from the colors used on my card.  Different huh!  My card today uses the sketch from Stamping 411.

 http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lfkgWYUyMYY/TdL26GFLOOI/AAAAAAAAAcY/jOBHudXRSko/s1600/SSC_204.jpg

I combined it with the color challenge at Cards & Things.

When I saw the colors I thought this was going to be an easy card.  I already had an idea in my mind.  I got the 2 top layers created and then I needed the bottom layer and the card base.  This is where I ran into trouble.  I ended up using a piece of white and stamping on it.  Here is what I created.

Hope you enjoyed my creation today.  Thanks for looking and have a Great Day!

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge

Good Morning Ladies!

Before I share my card, I wanted to share 2 of my latest photos of Zoie.  She is so easy to smile so she naturally takes cute shots.  These were taken in the morning while she was still in her pack-n-play.

She has some crazy hair.  It is long in spots and the top is short and spikey.  She is such a cutie!

Ok, enough of the baby time to get to the card.  I used the sketch challenge from Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch challenge

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hvLZc348nmU/TdpOU7uGhAI/AAAAAAAAFxo/mEk2bbBnetM/s1600/TSSC175.jpg

I combined it with the color challenge at Create, Ink

ColorChallenge41

I decided to pull out my stencils as I hadn't used them in a while.  It was fun to revisit this flower.  Here is my creation.

Hope you liked my creation.  Thanks for looking and have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Hand Stamped Sentiments - Memorial Day

 Good Morning Ladies!

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  I spent it with Zoie!  She is such a delight.  She is entering the stage where she tries to talk to you.  She is smiling as she is talking to you.  Such fun!

Our challenge this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments is a Memorial Day theme.

I got the new flag stamp in the Summer mini and thought it would be perfect for this challenge.  I also needed a card for my workshop next month so this card fits 2 needs.  I love flap looking cards and decided to use that idea for my card.  I just love how this one turned out and it is super easy.  Here is my creation.

Hope you will visit the rest of the design team members blogs to see what they created.  I am sure you will find lots of inspiration.  Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Late Night Stampers - Scrapbook Challenge

Good Morning Stampers!

We have a great challenge at Late Night Stampers this week. This week we have a Scrapbooking challenge.  We are to share our scrapbooking ideas - traditional or MDS.  I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

Since this month is National Scrapbooking Month, a few Saturday's ago there were a few ladies who shared a day long scrapbooking event on UStream.  I wasn't able to watch that day but with UStream you can record and upload your show to be viewed at other times.  I watched one of the videos and loved the mini scrapbook she did so decided I would try and make one with my spin incorporated into it.

Laura Dennison does some fantastic designs for her scrapbooks.  My idea was to use her video to design my own.  I spent the long weekend with my daughter but took some things with me to work on.  When I went to make my scrapbook I realized I had forgotten several key tools and materials.  So what I am going to share with you is the beginning of my scrapbook.  When I get home today I will work on it and when I finish it I will share it with you.  Here is what I have completed so far.

Okay, Blogger will not let me upload my pic so I will have to do it later.  Check back later this evening for the pic.

Thanks for checking with me and have a Marvelous Monday.

Scrapbook Sunday - Checkbook cover scrapbook

Good Morning Ladies!

I had several ladies ask me how I made my checkbook cover scrapbook that I shared a few weeks ago.  I told them I would make a tutorial and today is the day you get to see it.

You need to decide what patterned paper you are going to use for your scrapbook and pick out a coordinating solid cardstock.  I will be using Crumb Cake to go with my paper.

Step 1 - from the solid cardstock cut a piece that is 6 1/8" by 6 3/4" (make sure you test this in your checkbook cover just in case your cover is a different size.

Step 2 - from the same solid cardstock (you could use another coordinating piece if you want but I wanted mine to be the same) cut a strip that is the same width as your original piece and as long as your cardstock is (mine was 6 1/8" by 11" since I used 8 1/2" by 11").

Step 3 - Score the solid cardstock every 3 1/4" from the short side.  You will have one end that will have a 1 1/4" piece left over.  Don't worry as you will use this to attach another strip done the same way.

Step 4 - Do a mountain - valley fold of the scored cardstock.  You will do the same with the second strip if you are adding one.  When you go to mountain - valley fold this one watch how you are attaching the 2 strips so the folds continue in the pattern of folds.

Step 5 - 1 piece of cardstock will allow you to attach 5 pictures.  If you want to add more, add another strip which will let you add a total of 11 pictures.  I did not do any more than 2 strips as by the time you decorate the panels and add your pictures, it is about the size of a checkbook.

Step 6 - Cut off the 1 1/4" strip from the last panel as you will not use it.

Step 7 - Attach the 2 strips with sticky tape.

Step 8 - Decorate your cover.

Step 9 - Attach the mountain - valley folded strips to the inside of the cover.

 Step 10 - Using a base piece of 6" by 3" and the top piece of 5 13/16" by 2 13/16"
decorate the inside front and back covers.

Step 11 - Gently fold the cover inside out and insert in the flaps of the checkbook cover.

Step 12 - Using a base piece of 6" by 3" and the top piece of 5 13/16" by 2 13/16"
decorate the panels of the scrapbook.

Here is my finished album.  I did not use embellishments on this since it will be carried in a purse and the thickness needs to be limited.

I hope you can understand my tutorial and will make one for yourself.  Thanks for looking and have a Sensational Sunday!
