Sketch Frenzy Friday - Shaving cream style

Happy Friday Everyone!

I have 2 observations today and I am hoping to work on a card for a swap.  I love swapping so I wanted to try this swap out.  I will share my card with you when I am sure everyone has received their cards.

Today's sketch was created by Tammy Fite.

When I saw this I was not certain what I was going to do with it.  Then I remembered some shaving cream sheets I made while I was in Boston playing with Donna.  I pulled them out and used them to create my card today.  Here is what I created.

I love the softness of the shaving cream pieces.  You may not be able to tell but I embossed the white layer with the stripes embossing folder.  I added just a little bit of extra pop.  Want to see the rest of the design team samples?  Well you can hop on over to Sharon's blog - Designs by Sharon to see her interpretation of the sketch.  Thanks for looking and have a Fabulous Friday!

Monocromatic Eleanor Medallions

Good Morning Stampers!

I have a lot to finalize my class before tonight.  I will be super busy today.  Good thing I prepared ahead of time at the beginning of the week so you would have some eye candy for today.

My card today uses the color challenge at Dynamic Duos

I changed out the Concord Crush since it is retired and used Elegant Eggplant.  Once I had the colors I decided to combine it with the sketch challenge at The Paper Players.

Here is my creation.

I hope you enjoyed my card today.  I will tell you that I should have stamped the medallion first then added the flower.  Did not do that so as you can see my flower is not in the center of my medallion.  I hope you will come back tomorrow to see my card.  Thanks for looking and have a Great Day!

Coloring Down the Lines - Not Quite Navy

Good Morning Stampers!

I hope it is dry where you are.  I know everyone is watching Hurricane Isaac.  I hope if he is headed your way you stay safe.

It is time for our next Color Coach challenge.  This week we were to use

Night of Navy, Cajun Craze, and More Mustard

OR

Night of Navy, Pumpkin Pie, and Garden Green

When I saw these colors I was not feeling the Pumpkin Pie so I opted for the first combo.  I thought I would play with the technique I played with this weekend but this time I used these colors.  This is really bright but I love the fall feel.

I used the sketch challenge at Red Hot Stampers Sketch Challenge blog for the layout.

 Here is what I created.

So what do you think of my card today?  I love this technique using the darker colors.  Want to see some more creations?  It is time to hop on over to Amanda's  blog - Our Crafty Playdate to see which color combo she chose and what she created.  Thanks for looking and have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Hand Stamped Sentiments - Pom poms

Hello Stampers!

I hope you got some time to play yesterday and if you didn't maybe you can squeeze some time in today.

Over at Hand Stamped Sentiments our challenge this week is to use pom poms.

I have to admit I tried several ideas and none of them worked.  Renee happened to be here finishing up a class and she suggested I use the new tulle ribbon.  I pulled it out and we played with it.  Thanks to all her suggestions I was able to make my card.  Thanks Renee!  Here is my creation.

So what do you think of my pom poms?  Not bad huh!  Make sure you head over to the Hand Stamped Sentiments blog to see what the other ladies created for our challenge.  Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Late Night Stampers - hand colored image

Happy Monday Everyone!

Well another week is beginning and it will start to get even busier for me.  I start teaching my graduate classes this week so things will be hectic.

Our challenge this week is right up my alley!  I love hand coloring so the hard part was trying to find an image to color.  A lot of our images are solid and don't lend themselves to coloring.  I pulled out the catalog and did manage to find one I wanted to use.  I got this background stamp a few months ago and had not used it.  This seemed like the perfect challenge to use it.  Here is my creation.

inside of card and envelope

I think the card turned out very nice.  This background image is very large.  I cut my paper a little larger than I needed and stamped the image.  I then was able to cut it down to the size I needed.  Look at large stamps this way as they are much more versatile this way.  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

A card club creation

Hello Everyone!

It has been a lazy rainy weekend here.  We so needed the gentle rain to soak in the ground.  A great weekend for stamping and I hope you got to spend a little time doing just that.

My card today was created for a Card Club back in June - yeah can you believe I have not share it until now!  I created a shim and only embossed the top part of the embossing folder fun technique.  Here is the card the ladies made.

inside of card and envelope

I have a group of ladies come to begin their Fall Banner today.  It will be fun as they will be stamping with bleach.  I hope you get to relax and stamp some today also.  Thanks for looking and have a Sensational Sunday!

Card Set Class

Good Morning Ladies!

This was not what I had planned to post but someone asked about this class so I thought I would share what we are making.

I am having a card set class today.  My ladies love to take a stamp set and make 3 - 4 cards using the set.  This month we are using the Serene Silhouettes stamp set.  I love this set and it is fun to make different cards with it.

I chose the 3 images and we are using the circle on the front of the box.  I used 3 different ways to use the images to give some variety.  Since this was a card set, I chose to use the same 3 colors - Gumball Green, Melon Mambo, and So Saffron.  Here is what the ladies will make.

I hope you enjoyed looking at our cards today.  Thanks for looking and have a Super Saturday!

Sketch Frenzy Friday

Good Morning Everyone!

Our weather has been beautiful this week.  Warm days with no humidity.  My kind of weather.  Today I am off to play with a fellow demo in our area.  We have tried to get together several times but it never worked out.  Today is finally the day.  I am so looking forward to playing with stamps and new goodies today.

My card today is for our Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge.  Today's sketch was created by Tina Munzke.

I got some new goodies the other day and decided to use a few of them on my card.  I got the new Chevron embossing folder.  I was not going to get this one as it did not appeal to me.  Well after I saw some fabulous creations using it I just had to have it.  I also got the Mixed Medley set and loved the little polka dot flower and had to use it.  I had fun using some new items on my card.  Here is my creation.

Are you ready to see what some of the other design team members did with this sketch?  Head on over to Sharon Wheet's blog - Designs by Sharon to see what she did with the sketch.  Thanks for looking and have a Fabulous Friday!

Butternut Sage's Cupcake Challenge

Good Morning Stampers!

It is supposed to be a beautiful day today!  I will work a little this morning and then I will cut paper for my workshop on Saturday and set up the stations.  I hope to play a little in my stamp room also.

Donna at Butternut Sage Designs has a challenge every 2 weeks.  The current challenge is to make a card using a cupcake on it.  This was a challenge for me as I have no current cupcake images.  I was not going to let that stop me so I pulled out my punches and created my own cupcake.

I began with the sketch challenge at Red Hot Stampers Sketch Challenge Blog

This was a simple sketch and I thought it would be perfect for this challenge.  I began by running a piece of Daffodil through my crimper.  I then cut it in the shape of a cupcake paper.  I then pulled out my scalloped circle punches.  I punched each size out of white.  I then used the extra wide oval to shape the top of the large bottom piece.  I used the same procedure with the second and third layers but used the large oval.  When I had all my layers made I sponged the edges with Early Espresso and then using a 2 Way Glue Pen I added some Dazzling Diamonds.  Here is my creation.

Coloring Down the Lines - Night of Navy

Happy Wednesday Stampers!

We moving right along with our color coach challenges.  We have completed all the Brights Collection and only have a few colors left in the Regals Collection.  I don't know about you but I love seeing what the other ladies have come up with.  Each creator approaches the colors so differently.

This week our challenge was to use

Night of Navy, Pumpkin Pie, and Cherry Cobbler

OR

Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight, and Old Olive

I chose to use the second set of colors.  I saw a great sketch over at Stamping 411 that I thought would be fun to play with using these colors.

Here is what I created.

inside of card and envelope

I tried a few different things with my card.  To make the "Gratitude" element I stamped Gratitude and then punched it with the Curly Label punch.  I then punched out a Decorative Label punch and layered the 2.  To make the wavy horizontal piece I took a piece of cardstock and punched 1 side with the scallop edge border punch.  I then cut the piece to about 3/4" and offsetting the scallops I punched the other side.  I cut my strip of cardstock longer than I needed so I had some room to play with the punch to get it right.  I love this wavy element and will be using it again.

Now it is time to head on over to Amanda's blog - Our Crafty Playdate to see what she did with colors.  Then finish out the hop to check out our other creations.

Thanks for looking and have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Hand Stamped Sentiments - Herringbone

Good Morning Stampers!

I am home from babysitting Zoie and I am off and running!  I have my retirement village ladies this morning, then I have go into work, and finally I have my sister coming over to stitch and have dinner.

Over at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a challenge for a technique that I was not familiar with.

To find out how to do this technique I had to go to Splitcoast Stampers resources and they had a great tutorial.  This is a fun technique but the key is the placement of your paper.  I hope you play with us and give it a try.  Here is my creation.

This is a great technique to use up little strips of ds paper.  I hope you will give this technique a try and play along with us this week.  Head on over to the Hand Stamped Sentiments blog to see what they the rest of the design team created.

Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Late Night Stampers - use that item you have been saving

Happy Monday!

Are you ready for our next challenge?  This week we want you to find an item you have been saving for a special project and use it.

I ordered the Delicate Doilies Sizzlet quite a while ago and have not used it.  I decided to pull it out and use it for my card today.  I used some unusual colors on this card so you will have to let me know what you think.

Interesting card right!  Well at least I am still trying to like Summer Starfruit.  Hope my card made you smile.  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Demo Luncheon cards

Good Morning!

I thought I would share some more of my cards I made while in Boston.

On Wednesday Donna held a demo luncheon that was attended by 8 other ladies from the surrounding Boston area.  We did a shoebox swap where each person designed a card using something from the new Holiday Mini.  Here are some of the cards we made.

Tomorrow I will share some of the Christmas cards we made.  Thanks for looking and have a Super Saturday!

Sketch Frenzy Friday -

Happy Friday Everyone!

Today I am babysitting Zoie while Jess gets her hair cut.  I am sure she will keep me running and telling me all about her days when I am not there.  Such fun!

This week at Sketch Frenzy Friday our sketch was created by Tammy Fite.

This was a fun sketch to play with.  I used some of my designer series paper and solid cardstock to make my card.  Here is my creation.

So what did you think of this sketch and my card?  Want to see some other cards using this sketch?  Head on over to Sharon Wheet's blog to see her interpretation of the sketch.

ONE SHEET WONDER

My First Video

Good Morning Stampers!

Well I am delving into the video world!  I set a goal for myself after convention that I wanted to post videos on my site showing some of the techniques I have used on my blog.

In June I did a workshop where we did the One Sheet Wonder and then used the pieces to create a few of the cards - the ladies took the other pieces home and finished the cards.  I decided to do a video showing how to make the One Sheet and then show you the card that I made from the sheet.  There are some areas in the video where you will hear my dog bark and the tv - forgot to turn it off when I started taping again.  Please let me know what you think so that I can improve for the next one.
Here are the cards that I made in the video.
