Lattice Christmas

Good Morning Stampers!

So did any of you shop yesterday?  I did some online shopping for me but that was all.  I don't have to do a lot of shopping.  I usually send both of my girls money as that is what they want.  I got a gift card for one boyfriend and still need something for the son-in-law.  I also make each girl something.  This year they both want boot cuffs so I have been working on those.  I have picked up a few things for Zoie and still need one or 2 more so I will get that then I am done.

I thought I would share another one of the cards my ladies will make at my workshop this month.  This card was inspired by a card by Gail Park.  When I saw her card I thought it would be a great one to do at the workshop.  Here is my version of her card.

Sketch Frenzy Friday - Hi

Happy Friday Everyone!

I had a relaxing and enjoyable day yesterday.  I spent most of the day knitting.  I really enjoyed myself.  I finished Michaela's boot cuffs and worked on my Mystery Knit Along shawl.  I am binding it off and should be finished it in a few days.  Can't wait to get it finished so I can use it.

Friday is our Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge.  This week our sketch was created by Sharon Wheat.

I thought it would be fun to use the 2 long strips for a stamped image.  I went looking at my stamps and found one I had not used in a while that I thought would be perfect for this sketch.  Summer Silhouettes has the Queen's Anne Lace as well as the lattice design that would work.  I stamped them and then just has to create the rest of my card.  Here is what I created for this challenge.

I took some liberty and moved the ribbon to the bottom as it would not work on the top and would have hidden my sentiment.  I hope you will jump over to the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog to see what the other ladies created.  I am sure there are some great cards for you to see.

Thanks for looking and have a Fabulous Friday!

Zoie's Punch Art - Pilgrims

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Well we did not get any snow.  We got a ton of rain.  Now it is cold.

Quick post as I know you are as busy as I am.  My card today is the card I will give to Zoie today.  I got my idea from Lynn Starzl.  She posted a card about a year ago today that I CASEd.  Here is my card for Zoie this week.

Coloring Down the Lines - Rose Red

Good Morning Ladies!

So how many of you are affected by this major storm?  It is having a fun time with the east coast.  Some areas are getting rain - Us - and a few areas are getting snow.  I hope it is not going to affect your travel plans for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Wednesday is our Coloring Down the Lines blog hop.  A few weeks ago we added an extra piece to our challenge.  This week our colors were

Rose Red, Wisteria Wonder, Garden Green

                          OR
Rose Red, Soft Suede, Marina Mist

with the added piece of a Christmas theme.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with these colors.  I decided to go with a poinsettia and use the Rose Red.  I also went with the second color combo.

Now that I have my colors and stamp set I needed to come up with a layout.  I decided to use the sketch challenge at SUDSOL.

Here is what I created using this sketch and our colors.

I hope you enjoyed my card today.  Are you ready to hop on down the lines to see what the other ladies created?  Hop of on over to Amanda's blog - Our Crafty Playdate to see which colors she chose and what she created.

December wokshop card share

Hello Everyone!

Well we are in for some major rain today.  They are saying my area could get 4 or more inches.  I was hoping the British weather site was correct and we would get snow.  Looks like we may need an ark instead of a sleigh!

My card today is one of the cards my ladies will make at my December workshop.  I was inspired by Melissa Davies card.  I loved the simple look of her card and decided to make my version for the ladies to create.  Here is what my card looks like.

I hope you enjoyed my card today.  Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Another wreath using a non Christmas set

Happy Chilly Monday Everyone!

Wow I don't know about where you are but our weather got bitter cold over the weekend.  The wind was howling also so that did not help.  I think the wind is supposed to die down some which will help.

Jess ad Chris brought one load down yesterday.  My great room is filled with boxes and furniture.  They are bringing another load today.  Not sure where I am putting it until we get organized.  We have a week and a half before I have a workshop so we have our work cut out for us.

Mary Jo at Techno Stamper gave us a great sketch this week.  Since I was working on my workshop cards, I decided to use this sketch for one on my cards.

I did a version of my card for my ladies at the retirement village.  They loved it so I modified it and added lots more layers for my workshop.  I love how it turned out and I am certain my customers will also.  Here is what I created.

So what do you think of this wreath that is made using a non Christmas set?  Don't you love when you can use a set in a way other than it was intended!

Hop on over to Mary Jo's blog to see what the other designers came up with for this sketch.

I hope you enjoyed my card today.   Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Christmas Cookie challenge

Good Morning Stampers!

Well today is the day!  Jess and family are bringing their things down today.  They will stay tonight but then go back on Monday as the moving company will be at their place on Tuesday.  I have both rooms to the point that they can get their stuff moved in and we can finish up once they get here permanently.  I still need to get the alcove straight as that is where Jess will put her cats.

Okay, on to my card.  Over at Sudsol I am hosting a chat and challenge today.  When you host a challenge you have to come up with the guidelines.  I tried and tried to think of something and I did not want to do a sketch.  As I was thinking about Christmas I thought about Christmas cookies.  From there everything fell into place.  I thought it would be fun to make a card using the colors of your favorite Christmas cookie.

My favorite cookie for this time of year is a Hungarian cookie knows as Keifli - I am sure the cookie is called something else in other languages.  I have seen them at Food Lion with a fruit filling and called by another name.  This cookie consists of a dough that is filled with a paste made with walnuts and flavored with almond extract.  After you cook them you shake them in a bag with powdered sugar.  The colors of this cookie are basically tans and browns.  So with that I chose to use Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, and Very Vanilla.  I embossed the ornaments with Whisper White and then sponged on Crumb Cake to make them pop.  Here is what my final card looked like.

This was a fun challenge.  How about you, what is your favorite Christmas cookie?  I would love to see you create a card using those colors and share it with me.

Thanks for looking and have a Sensational Sunday!

Surprising wreath!

Hello Stampers!

Well yesterday I was able to get a lot more of Zoie's room finished.  Today I am putting some things away and vacuuming.  Then the rooms are ready for them tomorrow.  Jess and I will continue to work on them after they get here permanently  so we can finish them up.  Still a lot to do but at least it is in shape for them to move in.

I did have an issue yesterday.  I was putting my clothing rack together and pinched my thumb.  It bled quite a bit and hurt for some time.  I didn't think anything of it until I wanted to stamp.  It is rather difficult to stamp when you can't apply any pressure to it.  I was able to struggle through and get quite a few cards made.

One of the cards I made is for my December workshop at the beginning of the month.  I was inspired by a card Amanda Sevall.  I really like how she used a non Christmas stamp to make a Christmas card.  I know several of my ladies have this set so I thought they would like to see another use for it.  Here is my version of her card.

inside of card and envelope

So did you figure out what stamp set I used?  It is Betsy's Blossoms.  That large bloom flower makes a cute wreath.  If you have this set, give it a try.  My ladies are going to be so excited when they see what we are using.

Hope you enjoyed my card today.  Thanks for looking and have a Super Saturday!

Sketch Frenzy Friday - For the Birds

It's Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I got the word last night that Jess and family are moving in on Sunday.  I spent some time upstairs doing some more.  I will also go up today and then again on Saturday.  Hopefully I will be in better shape by then.  Jess did say they will spend the night on Sunday but then probably go back to base on Monday as the moving company is supposed to finish on Tuesday.  Wish me luck on getting done what I need to get done.

Friday is our Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge.  This week our sketch was created by me.

I wasn't certain what I was going to do but realized I had not used the cute little skating bird so decided to go with it.  I kept my card colors similar to the sketch.  I didn't know what I was going to use for the buttons.  I went to my glimmer brads and found colors that would continue with my color scheme and decided to use those.

If you remember from yesterday I told you about my issues with making a new folded envelope.  I also shared that in order for the stamp flap to be on the right side you have to score it on the wrong side.  I was able to make one the correct way for this card.  This is a fun envelope - I am always on the hunt for other ideas so let me know if you find any.  I still have a stack of retired paper so I will be able to try lots of different ideas.  Here is what my card and envelope look like.

Zoie's Punch Art - Turkey

Hello Stampers!

Well today is my last day to physically teach.  I still have another class after Thanksgiving but the students will be presenting their projects so I don't have to do a lot of prep for the class.  I have also decided that I will not be teaching any other classes in either program.  I really want to have my time and not be tied down so I decided to give up the classes.  I will still coordinate the program as I only have to work a few hours a week and I can choose my hours so I can work with that.  It will be nice to have time to spend with Zoie and Jess.

I wanted to do a turkey for Zoie for this week's card.  I went looking and found a few.  I liked one of them and knew I could make it.  I used these directions to make my card.

http://alexscreativecorner.blogspot.com/2013/11/turkey-punch-art.html

Here is the card I created using the above directions.

For my envelope I found a new fold on Pinterest for using some of my ds paper.  Here is the link for the directions.  Magic Envelope
Here is a picture of the first scoring.

Here is my finished envelope

As you can see my little stamp fold is on the wrong side.  I followed her instructions explicitly and it turned out wrong.  I was determined to get it correct so when I made an envelope for my card tomorrow I discovered you have to score on the side you want on the inside.  This will put the flap on the right side for the stamp.  I also used a full card rather than a post card style like the designer did.

Hope you liked my card and envelope today!  Thanks for looking and have a Great Day!

Coloring Down the Lines - Perfect Plum and new technique

Good Morning Everyone!

I read some interesting news yesterday.  The British weather monitoring service has predicted a major snowstorm for Virginia, North Carolina, and Maryland area.  The local people are saying the do not think this will happen.  I guess we will see.  I for one would love a big snow storm!!!!!!

Wednesday is our Coloring Down the Line blog hop.  This week our challenge was

Perfect Plum, Marina Mist, Rose Red

                       OR

Perfect Plum, Early Espresso, Whisper White
Our added Piece this week was to do a new to you technique.
I have to admit I wasn't certain what I was going to do so I went looking on Splitcoast.  After searching for a while I found a tutorial for Magic Snowflake.  I decided to give this one a try.  I pulled out my Marina Mist and Pool Party and realized after doing it I was not getting the contrast I needed so I added some Night of Navy.  I had it all finished and loved the look when I realized duh you have to use the colors from our blog hop.  So I went back and redid the technique using our blog hop colors.  After redoing the main image, here is what I created using the colors from our hop.

The picture seems a little light for some reason.  It did not look this way when I added my watermark.  So are you ready to see what techniques the other ladies did using these colors?  Hop on over to Amanda's blog Our Crafty Playdate to see what she created.  I am sure she will share a fun technique with you.

Thanks for looking and have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Hand Stamped Sentiments - A Round Snowflakes

Good Morning Stampers!

Well I am on my way to the retirement village for my monthly stamp class with the members.  This is a big class as I have 7 signed up for it.  I think it is because we are making Christmas cards.  I am sure the members will have a fun time and they always love the cards.

Today is the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge.  This week we have a sketch to use.

I had to do some thinking about what I wanted to use for the hexagons.  I remembered that A Round Array has a great snowflake in it.  I pulled it out and added it to Winter Frost designer series paper.  I also use the Northern Flurry embossing folder on the card base and then spritzed it with some shimmer spray.  Here is what my creation looks like.

inside of card and envelope

After seeing this in my post I think I will go back and add rhinestones in the center of the snowflakes.  Can't have too much bling!

Have you been over to visit the Hand Stamped Sentiments blog?  There are some fabulous stampers who share their creations with us every 2 weeks.  I am honored to be part of that group as they are so talented.  We would love to have you play with us this week!

Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Late Night Techno Flower Shop

Good Morning Stampers!

Can you believe that next week is Thanksgiving?  I have so much to do before this weekend as Jess and family are supposed to move in then.  I will be a busy girl this week finishing up everything.

Today is our challenge at Late Night Stampers.  This week we were to use our punches.  I have to admit I wasn't certain what I was going to do with this challenge but I thought it would be fun to do something using a stamp and punch I have not used in a while.  I went looking through my catalog and found the Flower shop and Pansy punch had not seen any love lately so I decided to use those.

Mary Jo at Techno Stamper has a great sketch for her Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.

I love the Eastern Elegance ds paper.   It can make a very pretty card.  I decided to use it for my card.  Here is what I created using both challenges.

inside of card and envelope

Do you see the embossing folder behind the flowers?  That is the Pretty Print Textured Impressions embossing folder.  I love the elegant look of this embossing folder.  I think it adds just the right tough to the card.

I hope you enjoyed my card today.  Make sure you head on over to the Late Night Stampers blog to see what the ladies did with punches.  Then check out Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge and play along with both of the challenges.  We would love to see what you would create!

Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Fab Friday Fall

Hello Ladies!

Well I didn't do too badly with my list from yesterday.  It took almost the whole day but I got my yarn bags made.  I also was able to make 2 cards and did a little grading of projects.  Did not get to knit but should be able to take some time today to accomplish that task.   I am looking forward to it.

Today I need to make a few cards as well as start to put my Power Point for class on Thursday together.  Then I will do some knitting.

My card today uses the sketch challenge at Fab Friday

I like the use of the tag on this so that is what drew me to it.  I wanted to use some of my colored embossing powders so I went with it.  Here is what I created using the sketch.

I hope you enjoyed my Fall card today.  There won't be many more of those with Christmas right around the corner.  Thanks for looking and have a Sensational Sunday!

Best of Snow Faux Frame

Good Morning Everyone!

So what are your plans for today?  I am hoping to do some crafting, make some yarn bags, grade some projects, and do some knitting.  I have a tall order for today but I am hoping to get it all done.

My card today is for the new technique challenge at Technique Tuesday.  This month the challenge was Faux Frame.  This is a fun technique and Mynnette had a great video tutorial for it.  I chose to use the Tip from Ellen and use the framelit to make my frame.

I knew I wanted to use snowflakes and the new Best of Snow set that I just got the other day.  That little snowman is so cute!  I decided to use the sketch challenge from Just Add Ink.

JAI 191

Here is my creation based on the sketch and the technique challenge.

inside of card and envelope

It is hard to see but there is a very thin frame around the edge of the snowflake.  I really love this new set!  I also covered the large snowflake with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  Then after stamping and coloring the snowman, I used the small snowflake and stamped them and embossed with the Iridescent Ice embossing powder on the same snowflake.

I hope you enjoyed my creation today!  Thanks for looking and have a Super Saturday!

Sketch Frenzy Friday - Chevron Evergreen

Hello Everyone!

Well I have to say I glad it is the weekend.  I am having lunch with a friend today.  I have not seen her in a month or two so we will spend a lot of time talking and catching up.  How about you?  Have you spent time with a special friend lately?

Today is our Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge. This week our sketch was created by Patrice.

This was a fun sketch.  I decided to use it to make a Christmas card.  I am loving the Evergreen set lately so I pulled it to use.  I also used the chevron pattern from the Season of Style designer series paper.  To carry the chevron theme further, I used the chevron embossing folder.  Here is what I created.

I think this is a great fun Christmas card, How about you?  Want to see what other creations were made using this sketch?  Head on over to the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog to see what the other members created.

Punch Art for Zoie - scarecrow

Hello Stampers!

This will be quick as I should be in bed since I have to get up really early tomorrow.

My card today is another Thanksgiving card.  This time I went with a scarecrow.  I looked on the internet and Pinterest but ended up going with one I had made for my Fall banner based on several I found previous online.  He is cute and ended up being taller than I had planned since he barely fit on my A2 size card.  Here is my scarecrow and the card I made for him.

I hope my scarecrow made you smile today.  Thanks for looking and have Great Day!

Coloring Down the Lines - Fancy Fold

Good Morning Ladies!

I hope you are staying warm today!  Did you get at snow in your area?  We did not.  :(  My philosophy is if it is going to be cold, it needs to snow!

Today is our Coloring Down the Lines blog hop.  We were supposed to have another member but unfortunately her computer got a virus on Monday evening and she is still working with technical support to get all her files back.

This week our color choices were:

Night of Navy, Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler

                                    OR

Night of Navy, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight

Our added piece this week was to make your card a fancy fold.  This should be a fun hop if you really are into fancy fold cards.

My card uses the 4 Panel card from Technique Junkies - it is on the cd 3D and Fun Folds.  This is a fun card to make but it is tricky to get it put together.  Here is my fancy fold card using the second set of colors.

the sentiment panel and envelope

Three of the panel look like the top panel.  If you look at this from a bird's eye view the card makes an X.  It folds flat so it is easy to mail.  Are you ready to see some more fancy fold cards?  Head on over to Amanda's blog - Our Crafty Playdate to see what fold she used as well as which color choice she used.

Thanks for looking and have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Silver SUDSOL Endless Wishes

Good Morning Stampers!

Well today is going to be very cold.  They are even saying we may see some snowflakes!  I say bring it on.  I can't wait for the first snow!

My card today is for the SUDSOL Pinterest challenge.  This week we were to use silver or gold on our card.  When I was thinking about this I thought about the silver glimmer paper and the silver ribbon.  That made me think of snowflakes so I went with that theme.

I saw a clean sketch at Clean & Simple that I thought would be perfect for my idea.

I thought the new Endless Wishes photo polymer set would give me the perfect sentiment.  Here is what my final creation looked like.

I think my snowflake card was very fitting for today since this may be our first snowflakes of the season.  How about you, what is your weather like today.  Why don't you create a card to show what your weather is and share it with us!

Techno Stamper - Snowflake Wishes

Happy Veteran's Day!

I want to take a few minutes to thank all of our active military and veteran's for their service to our country.  Without their willingness to protect our country we would not have the freedom we have today.  That freedom is so important to me.  I hope they all have a fabulous day!

My card today is for Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge

When I saw this sketch, I immediately thought of my new photo polymer set Endless Wishes.  When I saw this set I fell in love with it and had to have it.  I love the simple snowflakes and the sentiments are in single words or small phrases that you can mix and match.  It is a great set!  I combined it with some of the Winter Frost designer series paper and the 1/8 inch silver ribbon.  Here is my creation using this sketch.

inside of card and envelope

Have you thought about this set?  If not you should check it out.  Head on over to the Techno Stamper blog to see what the other ladies on the design team created using this sketch.

Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!
