Valentine Tag Swap

Hello Ladies!

Well yesterday I met a friend and did the Bags & Tags class.  We had lunch first and then played for a little bit.  I also test drove 6 cars as I am looking for a new car.  I eliminated 2 of the 6.  I still have 5 on my list to check out and see how they drive.  I may try and do a few of those this week.  Then I can eliminate some of the others and narrow it down some more.

Today I have a Valentine Tag I made for a swap.  I signed up and was given 5 people to swap with.  I made my tags and sent them out.

To make my tag I first took a piece of black card stock and punched the corners.  Then I added a piece of the Everyday Chic ds paper.  I stamped the sentiment and used the banner punch to flag the ends.  I mounted it on a piece of Real Red that I had flagged the ends also.  I mounted this using dimensionals.  I punched a large heart out of red glimmer paper and attached to the tag with glue dots.  To finish it off I punched some small silver hearts and attached them with glue dots.  Here is what the tag looked like.

Timeless Elegance Butterfly

Good Morning Ladies!

Yesterday I did 2 sessions of my Bags & Tags class.  We had a lot of fun and the ladies loved the first bag.  When I was finished I managed to squeak in some time to make a design team commitment.  I need to get it photographed today so I have it ready to post next week for the blog hop.  So what are you going to be doing today?

I was playing with some of the Timeless Elegance ds paper.  It has been a while since I used that paper so I thought I would play a little with it.

I chose one of the small print patterns for the card base layer.  I then used the flower print to cut a strip and mount on Basic Black card stock.  I attached this strip to the lower edge of my card.  I used a piece of black to cut a butterfly using the Butterflies Thinlits.  I used dimensionals to attach to my card.  I added a large rhinestone to the body.  Using Memento Tuxedo Black, I stamped the sentiment in the upper left hand corner.  Here is what my creation looks like.

Pink Pocket Letter

Happy Friday Everyone!

I had a good day yesterday.  I went to the yarn shop and finally got past a long section of my shawl.  I have a set up section and then I have the final lace section.  I hope to get it finished by next week - notice I said hope.  Something always comes up and messes up my plans.  I also got a pedicure.  Then last night I set up for my Bags & Tags class this morning.  I am excited about this class and to teach my ladies some other items to make with the Gift Bag punch board besides gift bags.

I also got happy mail the other day.  I had participated in a snow pocket letter swap.  The lady I swapped with did a fabulous job!  I asked her where she got her ideas and she said she got them from You Tube.  She gave me the name of the lady who had some tutorials for other ideas.  I have been watching all kinds of videos.  She and I agreed to swap another pocket letter and that it would be pink.  Her pocket letter came the other day and just look at this fabulous creation!

some of the goodies in the back pockets

a tag, pen, and stamped images she also sent

I love the pocket tag she sent.  I watched the same video and will be trying some of these.  I mailed her my pocket letter today and she should get it on Monday.  Once she receives mine I will post pictures of mine.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I am hoping to get some time today to work on a design team commitment.  It will depend on the timing between my 2 classes.  Have a Fabulous Friday!

Playing with some new goodies!

Hello Stampers!

I hope you all had a good day yesterday and you are ready to tackle today!  I got a lot accomplished yesterday.  In fact I got more done than I thought I would.  I was pleased as I really had a lot to do.  I managed to get some photos taken, my pocket letter finished and put together, and my cards for my workshop next month completed.  I was pleased!

I recently got the Going Places ds paper stack from the Occasions catalog.  I did not get the stamp set as I was only going to use it for our Bags & Tags class.  I decided I wanted to play with it so I remembered the World Map stamp.  I decided to combine the two and see what I could come up with.

I began by stamping the World Map with Sahara Sand on Very Vanilla card stock.  I then choose a piece of the ds paper that would go and added it to the bottom as a strip.  I pulled out my sentiment and stamped it with Lost Lagoon.  I punched it out with the 1 1/2" circle punch.  I then punched a 1 3/4" circle from Lost Lagoon.  I mounted the two and added to my card front using dimensionals.  Here is what my final creation looks like.

Coloring Down the Lines - What I Love

Happy Mid-Week Stampers!

Well our school are finally opening back up today.  They are on a 2 hour delay but the kids have not been in school since last Thursday.  I am sure they are not happy about it.  There are even some places on my lawn that you can actually see the grass.  Hopefully that is it for the snow for us this year.  The temperatures are supposed to be in the 50's by the weekend.  I know my electric bill will love it.

Today is the Coloring Down the Lines blog hop.  We have a full slate of hoppers this time.  It has been a while with everyone being so busy.  This week we have a fun color challenge.

Is that outfit so cute!  Wish I could wear something like that.  Since I can't, I will use the colors to make a great card.

I decided to use a cute Sale-abration set I got - What I Love.  I chose to use a little bit different color for the flowers.  I picked Marina Mist and Crumb Cake.  To do the flowers I used the larger solid image and inked it up.  I then off stamped it 2 times before stamping on my card stock.  I then used the other solid image and off stamped it 1 time before stamping it on top of the other flower I had stamped.  I used the outline image and inked it up and stamped it full strength on the flower already created.  That gave me the different shades I needed for my flower.  I created a couple of masks for the flower so I could stamp the leaf spray.  I used Crumb Cake for the leaves.  I went with pearls rather than rhinestones for something different on this card.  After I had my front panel stamped, I layered my ribbons.  I only needed to stamp my sentiment and punch it out.  Here is my final creation.

Hand Stamped Sentiments - Thank You

Hello Ladies!

Well schools are closed here again today.  I guess they still have lots of back roads that are not cleared yet.  I have 2 ladies coming later today for my Bags & Tags club.  I have 2 scheduled for tonight also but not sure if they will venture out since it will be after dark and the roads may not be safe as they will melt during the day and refreeze at night.

Today is our Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge.  This time we have a fun sketch.

I just got some new stamps from the Occasions and Sale-abration catalogs.  I decided to use one of the sets on this sketch.  When I looked at the center panel I thought about the clouds embossing folder we use to have the new set Sky is the Limit.  I thought they would be perfect and make a great card.  I embossed the Soft Sky panel and then took the Whisper White craft pad and swiped it it across the raised dots.  This made the clouds pop.  I stamped the plane using Basic Gray.  I then cut it out.  I used some Crystal Effects on the propeller.  When it was dry I attached it to the panel using dimensionals.  To address the flag shapes I stamped the cloud stamp on each side.  I then attached the embosssed panel and added some candy dots.  Here is what my final creation looks like.

Mint Watercolor Hello

Good Morning Ladies!

Well I blew it!  I started working on my card to post today and when I had it finished I realized it is supposed to be Making Memories Monday.  If I can get my act together today I will make one to post.

Our Blizzard was unbelievable.  We did not loose electricity which is good as it was bitter cold and the winds were blowing.  It would be horrible to have to have our linemen out and up in buckets.  We also had to begin the long process of digging out.  I have a long lane to my house and the lane that I share with another house is also long.  Jess went out in the morning and spent a little over an hour shoveling.  She managed to get a 10 x 10 square shoveled.  It wasn't even a dent in what had to be done.  I went out a little later and started shoveling the driveway for just the tires of the truck.  While I was shoveling the guy who clears our main road into the development came through.  I managed to flag him down and he plowed the lane I share and my driveway.  Thank goodness as we would be digging out for days!

I went checking out the challenge blogs as I knew I would need some inspiration for this week.  I found a great color challenge at Stampin' Royalty Challenges

I was then intrigued by the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  I thought it would be fun to work with.

I began by watercoloring my background with the Mint Macaron.  I used watercolor paper and spritzed it with water.  I then used an aqua painter to pick up the ink and colored the paper.  After I let it dry, I used the rings from the Timeless Textures and stamped them with Early Espresso in the upper left hand corner.  I then used Pink Pirouette ink and did a second generation stamping of the flourish from the set.  I used the "Hello" sentiment from A Dozen Thoughts and stamped it on top of the flourish.  I used the Duo Ticket punch to punch out the sentiment and did some creative punching to get a smaller ticket size.  I mounted the sentiment on the Pink Pirouette one I punched.  I then added the sentiment to the front of the card with dimensionals.  I decided to also add some Pink Pirouette chevron ribbon.  Here is my final creation.

I thought I would share a few pics I took yesterday in the late afternoon of what we got from the Blizzard.  After these photos were taken we got another 3 inches.

This was taken out my front door.

This was taken out my sunroom door at the back of the house.  In the background you can see my son-in-laws car buried in the snow.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I will be busy in my craft room today making cards for this week, my Making Memories page, and some samples for my upcoming Ronald McDonald house fund raiser.  Have a Marvelous Monday!

Retired Government Ladies cards

Hello Stampers!

Well I am playing catch up today as well as trying to get organized since I have a ton of laundry to do.  I also have a demo dinner this afternoon so I will need to allow some time for that.

I have mentioned several times I have a group of ladies who like to make cards.  These ladies all worked for the Federal Government in almost the same office.  They are all retired now and get together quite frequently to do some fun things.  My sister is one of these ladies and she asked if I would do a card class for them.  So far I have done 2 classes and we already have the next one scheduled.

I thought I would share the cards we made just last week.  Some of them you have seen and some are remakes of other cards.  The cute little penguin my sister made and added some hershey kisses.  I made the little snowflake box and added some hershey kisses inside also.

The ladies had a fun time.  After we stamp, we have lunch and chat.  It is a fun day for them and I enjoy working with them.

Thanks for visiting me today.  Wish me luck with all I have to get done today!  Have a Sensational Sunday!

Watercolor Flowers

Good Morning Everyone!

I don't know if any of you know, but I am one of those ones who is getting the Blizzard right now.  I came home on Thursday to miss all the mess.  It started snowing here about 1:30 yesterday and at 5 when I took Bijou out we had about 3 inches already.  We were supposed to get high winds overnight so not sure if I will have electricity today or not.  I sure hope I don't loose it as it will be very cold and they won't be able to fix it until the storm is over tomorrow morning.

Today I am sharing another card I made for my workshop earlier this month.  I saw a great color challenge at Nacho Average Challenges that I knew would make a great card.

I began by stamping the Watercolor Wash background in Soft Sky.  I then used my punches and Night of Navy and Silver Glimmer paper to punch my flowers.  I put my flowers together and determine where I was going to put them on my card.  I added some 1/8" Silver ribbon and added a cute little bow.  I also added some rhinestones to the flowers that did not have the silver glimmer paper.  Here is my creation.

Sending a Kiss

Hello Stampers!

Well we have another weekend ahead of us.  What plans do you have for it?  Today is my last day visiting my friend.  I am sure we will take it easy and enjoy each other's company as it will be a while before I get back down to see her.

My card today used an older sketch from Sunday Stamps

I was looking for some ideas to use for my January workshop.  This sketch was perfect for my card.  I began by using some of the Holidays Fancy Foil vellum that was in the Holiday catalog and is now retired.  I loved that striped vellum and knew it would work for a Valentine card.  I added a strip of Real Red that I punched with Hearts Border punch.  I tied a piece of Whisper White bakers twine around the border.   I then used the hearts that were punched out to add around the edges.  Here is what I created.

Some Customer Calendars For You

Hello Ladies!

I don't know if you have ever visited New Bern North Carolina but if you get the chance you should check it out.  It is a great town and there are so many events going on all the time.  There is plenty of shopping and you are not far from some beach towns.  Each time I come we do some fun things and I learn more and more about the area.

Today I am sharing a thank you gift I made for my customers.  I saw a great idea on another Stampin' Up demos blog - sorry I could not find it to link.  I knew they would be perfect to make as a thank you for my customers.  I also made a few for gifts.

This is a great easel calendar to sit on your desk.  It is scored like and easel card and when you pick it up and fold it back, the post it notes hold the calendar up so you can see the date.  I used retired ds paper for some of these and I totally forgot to take pictures of all the others I had made.  Here are a few that I put together.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I hope you enjoyed seeing my little gift for my customers.  Have a Great Day!

Coloring Down the Lines Birthday

Good Morning Everyone!

Well my visit is half over.  The time goes so fast when you are enjoying the company you are with.  We still have some fun things planned but before you know it I will be driving back home.

Today is the Coloring Down the Lines blog hop.  We have a monochromatic color challenge today.

 Stampin' Up color matches

I chose these colors but when I went to make my card I wasn't certain what I was going to do.  I started looking at my sets and was going to use seashore one but the current sets would not work.  Then I remembered the shore birds in Wetlands and pulled it to use.  I basically decided to use just Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip as they blended together.

I found a sketch at Freshly Made Sketches I knew I could use.

I cut a piece of Chocolate Chip and embossed it.  I attached it to card base.  Next I cut some Whisper White and stamped my birds.  I then layered the image with some other card stock to get it to pop.  I attached the panel to the card base with dimensionals.  Next I needed to address the star element.  I decided to use the Birthday sentiment in the set.  I stamped it and punched it out with the large oval punch.  I then backed it with the Label Bracket punch.  Here is what my final creation looks like.

Making Memories Monday on Tuesday!

Hello Everyone!

It has been so relaxing visiting my friend.  I enjoy going to her place as it is always so calm and we take it slow and do what we want.  Do you have a place like that?  We all need one to get away and unwind.

I could not share my Making Memories page yesterday so I am sharing it today.  When we went to Disneyland a few years ago, I got some great pics of Zoie and her mom and aunt.  I knew I wanted to scrapbook them.

The picture at the top I took while we were riding the Dumbo ride.  I love the pic of my 3 girls.  The one in the lower left was taking while we were riding the carousel.  The one in the lower right was taken while we were waiting in line. I also have that picture in black and white and hanging on my wall.  Here is what my page looks like.

Laura's post - Monday

Hello Stampers!

I hope you are staying warm where you are.  The weather here on the east coast is crazy.  One day it will be 50 degrees and the next it will be 20 degrees.  It is really crazy.  Does make for some great days to spend in your craft room.

Laura has some great items in her shop.  Have you checked it out?

Today I am sharing another card I made using the CAS-ual Friday stamp set Love Notes.  My card today is an example of how you can use the set for something other than Valentine's Day.  I began by stamping the musical staff vertical on the card.  I had masked off a section in the middle of the card before I stamped the staff so I would have a place to stamp my sentiment.  I then
stamped the musical staff again on the lower half of the card.  I then added some washi tape to the right of the musical staff.  The only thing left was to stamp my sentiment.  Here is what I created that is not a Valentine's card.

Thanks for visiting me today.  Not sure what we will be doing tomorrow but I am sure it will be fun.  Have a Marvelous Monday!

Winter Spring

Hello Ladies!

I am on my way to my friend's house in North Carolina.  It will take me about 6 hours to get there.  Think of my as I am driving.  I am hoping to find the football game and listen to it.

My card today actually fits 2 challenges.  SU Only Challenges has a Cards in Wintertime challenge.  You are to make a card you would send out during the winter months.

CAS on Sunday had a theme challenge.  The theme was Winter.  So as long as it was a clean and simple winter card it was acceptable.

I decided to pull out my Sheltering Tree set.  I stamped the grass as snow mounds.  I then tore the edges and used some 2-Way glue to add some Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  I then stamped my tree and added my hills of snow using dimensionals on the the front one.  I then stamped snowflakes all over the front of the card.  I punched a blue bird using the Tree Builder punch.  I added it to a branch of the tree using a glue dot.  The only thing I needed was a sentiment.  Here is my Winter card!

Saturday - Laura's Challenge

Welcome to the next Challenge issued by Laura's Loft. The design team and I are excited to be sharing our projects with you today and hope you play along with us.

This month our challenge is a Resist challenge.

Resist is a fun technique.  There are so many ways to do resist.

The rules are easy.  Create a project using the resist technique and then upload it to Laura's blog the Inlinkz.  There is a giveaway so check out the information below.

Challenge runs Friday January 16th 11 am EST through January 29 11:55 pm EST.

Here is my resist project.  I again used the Love Notes set from CAS-ual Friday.  I began by using a Versamark pen and coloring just the heart on the note.  I stamped it onto my white card stock and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  After I had my hearts embossed, I was ready to apply my color.  I first chose Spun Sugar in the Tim Holtz Distress Mini Kit #4.  I used a blending tool and applied the ink randomly to the base.  I them used the Picked Raspberry in the Tim Holtz Distress Mini Kit #1 to add another color to the background.  I used my blending tool to blend the 2 colors and even out the lines.  I then used the sentiment from the set to stamp "Happy Valentine's Day" and punch the ends.  I added it to my card with dimensionals.  I found a fun ribbon in my stash that matches and added it with a little bow.  To finish my card I punched a heart from a lace doily and added it to the ribbon at the bottom.  I added the layer to my card base.  To finish off the card, I used the musical note and the ink pads and inked up just the heart.  I stamped it at the bottom of the inside layer as well as the envelope.  Here is my finished creation.

inside of card and envelope

Don't forget Laura has a giveaway.  She is giving a $25 gift card to the winner.

This month she also has a second prize.  To the second winner Avery Elle has donated a gift certificate.

Make sure you make a project using the resist technique and link it up on the Inlinkz tool on Laura's blog.   We would love to see what you would do for the Resist Challenge.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I hope you have some plans to be creative!  I will be working on my pocket letter.  Have a Super Saturday!

Musical Note!

Happy Friday Everyone!

Well I had a good day at the yarn store yesterday.  I worked on my shawl and I have it about 2/3 completed.  I am hoping to finish it next week.  I also was able to spend a little time in my craft room yesterday.  I made my card for today as well as finished my Pocket Letter cards.  I am going to try and mail them out today.

Today I am sharing another card I made using the CAS-ual Fridays stamp set Love Notes.  Laura has some great items in her store so make sure you head over there to check it out - Laura's Loft.

For my card today  I began by stamping the cute little love notes on the background of my card.  I then pulled out my Silhouette and cut out the heart border you see at the bottom.  All it needed was a punched heart and the sentiment stamped and punched out and attached to the heart with dimensionals.  I added the fun striped ribbon on top also.  Here is what I created.

inside of card and envelope

We would love to have you check out Laura's shop and here blog - Laura's Loft to see some other items made with this set.  There are even a few more I have created I will be sharing over the next few days!

Thanks for visiting me today.  I will be spending time in my craft room making my projects to post next week.  What will you be doing?  Have a Fabulous Friday!
